May Sees Increase in Unique Browsers For Web Publishers

Article Date: Friday 25th June 2010

Last month's election sparked a surge in the number of total monthly and average daily unique browsers for online publishers across the board, according to ABCe figures released today.

The 10 per cent rise in Guardian.co.uk unique browsers from April to May - standing at just over 2m - was not enough to topple Mail Online from its ranking as most read paper online for a fourth month in a row.

Associated Newspapers' Mail Online saw a 5 per cent increase in its daily unique browsers to 2.39m, while daily unique browsers of Telegraph, which retained its ranking as third, were up 5 per cent on April to 1.67m.

The Mirror Group - with 502,382 average daily unique users - experienced the most significant rise, an increase of almost 15 per cent on its April figures.

Nearly all papers online reported an increase in traffic from last year.
